The new Patient Contact and Communication Portal you can now use to access Market Surgery for Medical and Admin requests

Here at Market Surgery we are always striving to offer the best possible care and service to our patients. We want patients to have more choice in the way they are able to contact the Surgery and to utilise technology that is able to facilitate this. We are therefore implementing a new online consultation solution, Anima!

Using Anima will ensure that we provide more accessible, efficient and fair access to patients. It allows us to triage incoming patient requests and helps ensure we are getting patients the right care as quickly and safely as possible. Removing the ‘8am rush’, appointments will be allocated throughout the day based on clinical need determined by the information you give through your request which is then triaged, and care navigated.

Triage = assessing patient needs and urgency

Care Navigation = offering the patient the best intervention for their needs

Anima is a digital online tool which can be accessed using a smartphone, tablet or computer. Online solutions are already very successful in practices across the UK. We hope this will help to reduce the wait for our all appointments. The easiest way to access our services will be to complete an online request using Anima, both for medical and administrative requests during our normal opening hours. Don’t worry though, you will still be able to continue to call the surgery if you struggle to use Anima online

What do I need to do?

We recommend you signup to Anima as soon as possible by clicking on the following link

You can use your existing NHS App login to create an account. You can also create proxy access for a relative or dependent, you can submit requests on their behalf.

Please note Anima does not replace the NHS App, which you can continue to use to order your repeat medication , view tests results, and view your medical record.

What are the benefits to me?

Using your smartphone, tablet, or other internet connected device, you will be able to submit requests directly to our clinical team. The team will then triage your request and respond via Anima to offer the most appropriate solution. This could include written advice and signposting, the prescribing of medication, or the offer of an appointment at an appropriate time. If your request is submitted before 3pm we will aim to respond on the same day.

What if I don’t have a smartphone or internet access?

Anima works on any connected internet device such as tablets and computers. Anima also allows you to setup proxy access for your relatives and/or children who can submit queries on your behalf.

If you don’t have internet access, or you or a relative are concerned about being able to use Anima, please do not worry. Any patient who may not be able to complete the form or use digital solutions can continue to contact us in the current ways. This will not affect your equitable access to appointments at the surgery.
