Accurx

We would like to inform patients of a change in provider for patients  contacting their GP Surgery online. South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board has announced that from 1st April 2025 the approved supplier for GP/Patient online communication across South Yorkshire will become Accurx. This means that from this date, we will no longer be using Anima.

Accurx works in a very similar way to Anima and gives patients the ability to contact their GP Surgery online and to submit online requests for appointments for new  medical problems online, as well as admin requests.

Patients should experience minimum impact in services from this change in provider as our processes remain the same, however the online platform you use to contact us will now change.

In order to help navigate patients through this change, we have compiled the following useful Q&As which should answer most questions you have about the change.

How do I contact the Practice Online?

Patients will now use Accurx to contact the Practice.

This can still be done from our Practice website using the Pink Patient Requests button on the home screen, or through the NHS App by selecting Contact My GP Surgery within the Services section of the app.

When should I submit a request online?

Online requests should primarily be used when seeking an appointment which is regarding a new medical problem.

You should also submit any admin requests online – for example requests for travel vaccinations, requests for forms to be completed, or for access to medical records

Why should I submit a request for a new medical problem online?

All patient requests for new medical problems are now triaged prior to patients being offered an appointment. Patients will find that submitting a request themselves is easier, and faster, than calling the Practice and waiting to speak to a receptionist.

If you are calling us about a problem for which you have already seen a clinician, or if its regarding an ongoing or long term illness, your request will not be triaged and you will be offered an appropriate follow-up or routine appointment.

What is Patient Triage?

Patient triage is a key NHS initiative to improve capacity and access to Primary Care services, whilst contributing to ending the 8am rush for appointments.

Triage is a process conducted by our dedicated team of care navigators and clinicians to make decisions about the most appropriate plan of action based on your healthcare needs.

Our triage team will use the information you provide us to offer an outcome which can include:

  • Giving you advice and guidance
  • Signposting or referring you to an alternative service (e.g. A&E or Local Pharmacy)
  • Offering an appointment within a reasonable timeframe with a clinician that is best placed to help you

As all appointments are offered based on clinical need and urgency you can submit a request any time of the day through our opening hours and we will offer you then next available appropriate appointment or direct you to another service provider.

Do I need an account to access Accurx?

No you do not need an account to submit an Accurx request through our website.

Patients can use their NHS Login to sign into the NHS App and Accurx via our website as this will save time by remembering your personal details however it is not a requirement.

Do I need an email to access Accurx myself?

You do not need to have an email address to use Accurx via our website, however you will need an email address to access the NHS App.

Can I still call the Practice to request an appointment?

Yes, patients can still choose to call the Practice if they so wish.

However most patients will find it quicker and easier to make their submission online rather than calling the Practice and waiting for your call to be answered and processed by a receptionist on your behalf.

What will happen to my Anima Account?

Your Anima account will be closed by Anima
